BMW M4 G82/G83
The G82 coupe and G83 convertible carry BMW’s S58 twin-turbo inline six on the CLAR platform, sold in the US from 2021. As with the G80 M3, the trim decides the mechanical spec: the base coupe is manual and rear-drive, and everything above it is automatic.

Owning and working on it
- The base coupe is 473 hp and 406 lb-ft with a six-speed manual and rear-wheel drive. It was not offered as a convertible.
- Competition covers both the coupe and the convertible at 503 hp and 479 lb-ft on the 8-speed Steptronic, with xDrive available from MY2022 at 523 hp.
- The MY2025 CS is coupe-only, xDrive and automatic only, at 543 hp.
- Every trim shares the same S58B30 as the G80 M3. What separates them is tune, gearbox, driven axles, and body, not a different engine.
