Owning and working on it
- The base car is 473 hp and 406 lb-ft, and in the US it came only as a six-speed manual with rear-wheel drive. No automatic was offered on the base M3.
- Competition moves to the 8-speed Steptronic at 503 hp and 479 lb-ft, rear-drive at launch, with xDrive available from MY2022 at 523 hp.
- The MY2024 CS is xDrive and automatic only, at 543 hp.
- Every trim shares the same S58B30. What separates them is tune, gearbox, and driven axles, not a different engine.
- Battery replacement needs registering so the charging strategy adapts to the new battery. Skipping it shortens the replacement’s life.
